Henderson is a research associate in MDRC’s Center for Data Insights. Their work uses data science approaches to inform evaluations of policies, programs, and systems in various domains, including criminal justice, education, and youth development. Their responsibilities include managing and directing projects; designing and leading analyses of complex systems; overseeing the acquisition, integration, processing, and analysis of complex administrative data sources; mapping system processes and data flows; developing surveys; conducting impact analyses; providing technical assistance to organizations; and collecting qualitative data through on-site observations, document reviews, focus groups, and interviews. They are the project director for the Sequences to Success in Washington State and Sequences to Success in Maryland projects, which examine school-to-work pathways using state longitudinal administrative data; the project and data manager for the Optimizing Texting Technology through Engagement Research with Students (OTTERS) project; and a coach and site lead for the TANF Data Collaborative 2.0 project. Past projects include an assessment of United Way of King County’s Bridge to Finish program, which provides basic needs services to community college students to increase equity in educational attainment; an evaluation of New Jersey’s 2017 criminal justice reform (the NJ CARE project); a rigorous subgroup analysis for the Pretrial Justice Collaborative; the impact evaluation of New York City’s Supervised Release program; the Youth Villages Transitional Living Program Evaluation; and an evaluation of the Re-Integration of Ex-Offenders Program. They hold a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Cornell University and both a master’s degree and doctorate in sociology from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
