K-12 Education and Young Adults and Postsecondary Education

Shih is a research associate in MDRC’s K-12 Education policy area, where she specializes in program evaluation and data management. She is currently the data manager and analyst for the Small Schools of Choice evaluation, which examines the long-term impacts of a New York City high school reform initiative; Prep-KC’s Data in Action course evaluation, a randomized controlled trial of a data science elective course in Kansas City middle schools; and the Real World Learning initiative, which monitors Kansas City high school students’ success in gaining work-related experiences before graduation.

Shih has also been involved in numerous other studies at MDRC, including the Strategic Adolescent Reading Intervention, the Oregon Early Indicator and Intervention System study, and the Evaluation of Academic Language Interventions. Shih holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy..
