Syed is a research assistant in the Center for Data Insights, where he holds both project management and technical responsibilities. He contributes to external communications of the TANF Data Innovations project, amplifying TANF agencies' data analytics capabilities, and provides programming support to Homeboy Industries' technical assistance project, enhancing evidence-building capacities within their MIS systems.
Syed joined MDRC's Oakland Office in 2023, following an internship at the Center for Healthy Communities at CSU Chico. There, he assisted in evaluating the impact of SNAP on academic achievement among college students facing food insecurity. Additionally, he contributed as a research assistant for California State University, involving a statewide evaluation of the Rapid-Rehousing Program, offering housing solutions to at-risk and homeless students. Syed holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from California State University, Chico.
