MDRC Vice President Sharon Rowser has been invited to join a transatlantic expert group on the future of work, sponsored by Bruegel, a Brussels-based think tank, and the German Marshall Fund of the United States with funding from the European External Action Service (EEAS).

The EEAS seeks to promote the exchange of views and best practices on the future of work that can feed current and future policy dialogues in the European Union and the United States. By stimulating cross-national discussion, the project hopes to support mutual understanding and the formulation of policy ideas to address challenges related to the future of work.

The expert group will include about 30 prominent European and US experts from civil society, academia, think tanks, labor, and the business community. The expert group will be divided into three smaller working groups of about 10 participants each to facilitate focused discussions on: (1) technology as a driver of change in the future of work, (2) the inequality challenge and the roles of education and social partners in addressing it, and (3) the future of social protection policy. The project will culminate with a meeting in Washington, DC, in November 2022.
