So is a technical research analyst in MDRC’s K-12 Education policy area, with a focus on improving quality education, student achievement, college access, and diversified learning for K-12 students. Prior to coming to MDRC, So worked as a data insights analyst at Democracy Prep Public Schools analyzing students’ attrition rates, college matriculation and persistence patterns, and school performance indicators. So received his bachelor’s degree in criminology from John Jay College and completed his master’s degree in the quantitative methods in the Social Sciences program at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center. At CUNY, he worked on various research projects, Civil Society and Geopolitics in the Korean Peninsula, Violent Crimes and School Absenteeism Pattern within NYC Public School Districts, and Police Violence and the Community-Police Relationship.
