Dan Bloom Contributes Article on Transitional Jobs to Criminology Journal

Dan Bloom, Director of MDRC’s Health and Barriers to Employment policy area, has authored an article, “A Signaling Approach to Criminal Desistance Through Transitional Jobs Programs,” which appears in the February 2012 issue of Criminology and Public Policy.

Bloom discusses how recent evidence from MDRC’s evaluations of transitional jobs programs speaks to the argument that employment programs for former prisoners may serve a valuable function by helping employers identify individuals who have decided to “go straight” and, as a result, will likely be more reliable workers.
