...Now, an independent and more in-depth study begun in 2010 is under way by MDRC, a national social service research group, tracking more than 1,300 Tennessee teens as they transition into independent adults.

National expert Mark Courtney, a professor with the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration, is helping conduct the study. Researchers will track a group that participates in the TL program for two years while following a group that receives other state services.
