BEES Site Profile: Breaking Barriers, San Diego, CA

The Breaking Barriers program, based in San Diego, California, provided employment services to lower-income individuals with disabilities.

MDRC carried out a random assignment impact evaluation of the program, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, in order to assess the effectiveness of the program at improving employment outcomes for program participants. Findings from that evaluation were released in September 2019.

As part of the Building Evidence on Employment Strategies for Low-income Families (BEES) project, sponsored by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation within the Administration for Children and Families in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, MDRC is collecting additional administrative records in order to extend the original evaluation. Findings from this analysis are expected to be released in 2021.

This site profile provides basic background information about the Breaking Barriers program and the analysis to be conducted as part of the BEES project.
